Located 40 KMs west of Coimbatore, Vellingiri Hill Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is sitting at the altitude of 1000 feet on Vellingiri Hill – one of four hills surrounded by Atapady plateau. It is considered to be the most conspicuous worship abode, that’s why many tourists visit this temple. Also, there are various festivals celebrated here including ChitraPoornima in April-May, Tamil and Telugu New Year Days, Karthikai in November-December.

Vellingiri Hill Temple is 6 feet wide cave temple where Lord Shiva graces pilgrims as Pancha-Five Lingas. The temple’s specialty is that it has all the Lord Shiva’s Lingams at one place. It is believed that feeding one person in this temple is equal to feeding thousands persons in Kasi-Varanasi. The hill on which this temple is situated is associated with stories of Mahabharatha and Ramayana.

One amazing thing about Vellingiri Hill Temple is that from some distance, seven hills resemble the shape of a peacock. Additionally, the hill is known for its extravagant natural resources as well. There is no clear road, and that’s why instead of vehicles, devotees have to trek to this temple. The temple opens from 6 AM to 12 PM and from 4 PM to 9 PM.
