The palace is bounded by a sky-scraping wall on all sides, which makes it a little hard to find out the key entry of the palace. The plan of this general mansion is the plan of the city itself and so the palace can be accessed only after nomadic throughout the different bazaars of the city.
Occupying the 1/7th area of the city, the city palace poses as a remarkable fortress, which displays a stylish combination of Mughal and Rajasthan style architecture. Built by Maharaja Jai Singh II, this multifaceted building has witnessed lots of additions and alterations to it.
Many courtyards, wide gardens and buildings make the palace as a magnificent construction. It houses numerous wonderful formations like Mubarak Mahal, Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple, Badal Mahal and the City Palace Museum.
