A 4 km walk west of the Nainital town in the hilly state of Uttarakhand takes you to a beautiful place called Dorothy’s Seat or Tiffin Top. Located in the Ayarpatta region and atop a height of 7520 ft (2290 mt), this beautiful place offers an enchanting panoramic view of the Kumaun hills. Popular among locals and tourists alike, it’s a magical place in true sense offering the stunning views of the Naini Lake below.
A beautiful trek through dense forest takes tourists to Dorothy’s Seat. And of trekking is not your cup of tea, you can then get a horse ride to reach to the top of this place. Surrounded by Cher, Oak and Deodar trees, tourists from here can get a view of the majestic Himalayas and in this, they can view the twin peaks of Nanda Devi.
The bewitching Dorothy’s Seat is not only about natural beauty alone as it has some history attached as well. The place, it’s supposed, was built by British Army Officer Col J.P. Kellett in the memory of his wife Dorothy Kellett, who met a tragic death in a crash. The peak season to visit this place is from mid-April to July and you could plan accordingly to enjoy this charming attraction for sure!
