Between Nagchandreshwar Mahadev Temple and Kalika Mata temple in South direction, there is a beautiful palace named as Padmini’s Palace. Related to Princess Padmini, second wife of brave king of Mewar, Rawal Ratan Singh, it is first johar in the world and is also known as PadminiMahal. Situated inside Chittorgarh Fort, it leaves tincture of sacrifice, beauty, honor, valor and tragedy of past.
Padmini’s Palace is perched on 180 m high hill and covers 700 acres. Surrounded by 13 KM of battlement, this building is near water source and is well maintained. In palace’s inner side, there is separate room which is historic area. The palace has marvelous architectural style and picturesque surroundings built in midst of water. Today, this palace stands as feminine structure which acts as forerunner of many palaces.
Padmini’s Palace is very rare palace in the world and is unique and immortal. When troops of Khilji attacked this palace, to save honor of the fort, great rajput culture and custom, Rani Padmini decided to do johar. Johar means burning oneself so that no one can misuse them. Best time to visit this palace is August – February month, and opening hours are 8 AM - 7 PM.
