Parambikulam Tiger Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary, situated in Kerala's Palakkad district, is well known for its ongoing efforts to save the endangered tigers. Surrounding hills and river, along with flora and fauna, make this the ideal location for a safari and trek.

The western Ghats' most protected ecological area is the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve. Endowed with wildlife and peninsular trees, this destination has limited human intervention. Some of the most common animals found here include lion-tailed macaques, Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, wild boars, sloths, king cobra, Travancore kukri snake and, among others, Western Ghats flying lizard. Flora includes trees such as teak, sandalwood, neem, and rosewood. Four separate indigenous tribes-Kadar, Malasar, Muduvar and Mala Malasar-also live in this sanctuary.
