Located in New Delhi on the western end of the Rajpath, the Rashtrapati Bhavan is the President of India's official residence. It was initially designed with the purpose of serving as the House of the Viceroy. It is one of the largest residences of any head of state in the world, with its 340 rooms in the main building occupying 5 acres of land on a 330 acre estate. The magnificent architectural piece was conceptualized by renowned architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker. The building was completed in 1929, and now stands as a majestic representation of all that India is. The present resident is President Ram Nath Kovind who took office in July 2017.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan premises is divided into three circuits and can be accessed during the day at different time slots by an approved guest. The first is the Main Building and Central Lawn, where you can see the architecture for yourself. The second circuit is the complex of the Rashtrapati Bhawan Museum which has many buildings within its own perimeter. The third circuit contains the beautiful Mughal Gardens, a paradise of lush greenery and elegant gardens.
