The Sati Anusuya Ashram is around 18 kilometers from Ramghat, a popular tourist destination in Chitrakoot. It is regarded a component of the "chitrakoot char dham" and is one of the sacred locations in the region. The fact that Maharishi Atri and his wife Mahasati Anasuya used it as their ashram gave the site its name. Because of her pious, pure, and chaste demeanor, she is also recognized as one of the mahasatis in Hinduism's sacred scriptures.

Her name has an interesting backstory as well. This region is thought to have been dry for the past 10 years due to a lack of rain. Anasuya then went through a period of penance and ultimately succeeded in bringing River Mandakini down to land. Sati was given the name Sati in honor of her tremendous sacrifice and perseverance throughout her penance. In truth, Goddess Sita sought her blessings throughout her exile with Lord Rama because of her devotion and love for her spouse and her responsibilities. She was also taught humility, dedication, and all the other virtues that a chaste, noble, and dedicated woman should have.

The ashram is bordered on all sides by dense greenery and hills. This contributes significantly to the tranquility and quiet, as well as the spiritual atmosphere, for which it is known. Mahasati Anasuya, her husband Maharishi Atri, and their son Dattatreya are all honored with a large temple. Aside from the sculptures of the three noble spirits within the temple, there are images from Sati's life that add to its artistic appeal. A statue of Lord Krishna riding the chariot with Arjuna seating behind him is also there. Women are frequently observed circumambulating the temple and paying their homage to Mahasati Anasuya, the purest soul of all time.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit Chitrakoot is determined on the type of weather you choose to travel in. Summers are probably not the best season to come if you are sensitive to the heat and humidity. If you're used to traveling in hot weather, you'll have no trouble visiting this location. If you want to enjoy cool, pleasant, and friendly weather, the winter season is the greatest time to visit. The pleasant weather makes for ideal sightseeing and exploring settings.

How to Reach?

Chitrakoot district is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh and is easily accessible by railway and road. It does not, however, have its own airport. The best method to get there is via rail, air or road.

By Train

Chitrakoot's nearest railway station is Chitrakoot Dham Karwi. Sati Anasuya Ashram is around 19 kilometers from the train station. You can take a cab or a private vehicle to go to your destination after exiting the train station.

By Air

Because there is no airport in Chitrakoot, you would have to fly through Bamrauli Airport in Prayagraj (Allahabad). The airport is approximately 126 kilometers away, with a travel duration of 3 hours 14 minutes. From the airport, you may take a taxi or any other private car.

By Road

The Uttar Pradesh district of Chitrakoot has strong connections to major Indian towns as well as those in close proximity, including Varanasi (246 km), Vindhyachal (171 km), Prayagraj (Allahabad) (115 km), and Ayodhya (115 km) (270 km). It is connected to all of them through NH 35.
