Situated in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, this beautiful town was inhabited by King of Kangra - Maharaja Sansar Chand Katoch, who later shifted to Sujanpur from Kangra after war with Muslim kings. The king of Kangra constructed his temples, courts and palaces on the top of a hill known as Tira hence the name of town is Sujanpur Tira.
Located on the bank of River Beas, the climate of this town varies from very hot to cold. In summers, temperature varies from 38 Deg C to almost 0 Deg C in winters. It is well connected with major towns of Himachal Pradesh such as Palampur, Charamshala, Hamirpur and more. Additionally, this town has biggest ground of the state, and in middle of the town there is green ground known as Chagun (in Pahari Language) which means it remains green throughout the year.
National level holi fair of Sujanpur Tira is very famous which takes place in March of every year for 3-4 weeks. Apart from all this, police station in this town is considered as one of the oldest police stations in Himachal Pradesh. The other places to visit in this town are Sujanpur Tira Fort, Awah Devi Temple, Nadaun Fort, Tauni Devi Temple, Narbadeshwar Temple and Deotsidh Temple.
