Thongsa Gompa is one of the most famous monasteries of Kalimpong which was established in 1692. The Monastery was constructed under the guidance of ‘King of Bhutan’. It’s also famous as the Bhutan Monasteries and located near to the Magal Dham. It is the best place for meditation and also to find inner peace. Today this building is a renovated structure of the original building, which was destroyed by Gurkhas.
Further, Thongsa Gompa is a popular place for tourists during the time of summer and winter. Buddhist monks offer every day prayer here and it also has meditation facilities for tourists. You are allowed to visit every corner and part of the Gompa. The best part is there are no charges to visit this place, plus it’s open all day in a week. It’s open 9:00am to 6:30pm for tourist.

Buddha Purnima is one of the most famous festival for this monastery which represents the trinity of Lord Buddha and is celebrated in a peaceful environment. Many of cultural program and dance show are organized for this festival. This festival attracts many visitors from every part of the world.
