Ingurated in 1970, the memorial was installed to honor one of the greatest leaders, and a saint, of India, Swami Vivekanand.
The Vivekananda Rock Memorial looks towering and stunning at the same time and not to forget, it symbolizes many things and among them the visit of the Swami here in 1892. Before leaving to attend the World Religious Conference in Chicago, the Swami had visited the rock and meditated here for two days. The rock is also believed to have the imprint of Goddess Devi Kumari’s feet hence it gains huge religious significance.
A visit to the Rock Memorial gives tourists an opportunity to see two places of repute, namely Sripada Mandapam and Vivekananda Mandapam.
