A small hamlet town named Phagwara lies in the heart of Punjab, just off the highway leading to Jalandhar with Jalandhar on one side and Ludhiana on the other. Phagwara is an important Punjab district, best known for having the state's largest number of NRIs, and its religiously bent, agricultural prowess.

While Phagwara today makes a major contribution to the state through agricultural produce, the manufacture of agricultural tools, and the cotton and textile industries, the city was first established as a small marketplace by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Although there are still many of those markets, bringing a historic charm to the city, Phagwara today is all about prosperity and religious devotion. The Sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahib, is believed to have visited and stayed in Phagwara for a while, and the town was named after one of his faithful disciples.

Beautiful architectural buildings, in the form of various places of worship, including temples, gurudwaras, and churches, draw you to this little town which is often ignored.
