The Chinese Temple is a famous Buddhist temple in Bodhgaya, Bihar, approximately 1 kilometer from the Bodhgaya Bus Station. It is one of the numerous temples in Bodh Gaya and one of the must-see locations in Bodh Gaya Packages. It is located just across from the entrance to the Mahabodhi Temple complex.
The Chinese Temple is a magnificent Buddhist temple erected in 1945 by Chinese Buddhist monks in partnership with the Chinese government. In the year 1997, it was refurbished. The temple's construction is a mix of magnificent Indian and Chinese styles, particularly the temple's façade, which looks like a Chinese monastery. A 200-year-old Buddha statue was transported from China and placed as a sacred shrine at the temple. Aside from the main shrine, the temple is known for its three exquisite golden statues of Lord Buddha, which are the temple's principal attractions.
The temple's extensive and detailed travelogues by Chinese religious intellectuals who journeyed to India in search of spirituality and knowledge are another attractions. Every year, Buddha Jayanti, one of the most significant festivals commemorating the birth of Lord Buddha, attracts thousands of monks and devotees of Buddha from all over the world.
