St. Mary’s Church evokes the times of the British Raj in India. The church is some 100 years old and ranks among the major attractions in Gulmarg. It’s a fine example of the Victorian style of architecture and the backdrop it’s surrounded with makes it a lovely place to visit. Lofty mountains, verdant meadows and soaring alpine tree lend it a perfect backdrop and make it a truly charming church. 

Further, the thick snow during winters elevates the beauty of the St. Mary’s Church many notches up. A visit to the church is like stepping back in time and feeling nostalgic. You can see huts and old hotels in the vicinity as well. Featuring grey stone walls and a green roof with wooden trimmings, it appears more like a tiny chapel and delights you in true sense for sure.  

A visit to the church gives you an opportunity to relish one of ancient architectural wonders of the region. Those who visit it during the winter season can find it perhaps the most scintillating as it’s time when it’s mostly encircled by a canopy of snow. In 2003, the church was renovated to impart it a new look for the first time in its 100-year old existence.
