Amritsar City Tour
The Golden Temple or Sri Harmandir Sahib or Swarna Mandir, is easily the most popular attraction in Amritsar. It’s the pride and soul of the city, and the Gurudwara with the focus on spreading brotherhood and humanity. Without doubt, it’s the most sacred place for the Sikhs as it houses their holy scripture – the Guru Granth Sahib. The 15th century structure has walls coated with gold and attracts devotees from all places in the world.
Near to the Golden Temple is another structure – Durgiana Temple -- that resembles it completely but it’s devoted to the Hindus. Also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Durga Tirath, Sitla Mandir, Silver Temple and, it holds great significance to devotees and also stands out for its unique style of architecture. Jallianwala Bagh is another place of interest in the city – a place with a national memorial commemorating the massacre of peaceful celebrators by the British.
The Partition Museum at Town Hall is the first-of-its-kind in the world as it showcases the stories and sufferings of the millions who had to bear the consequences of the partition between India and Pakistan. And just 28 Km from the main city is Wagah Border – the borderline that separates India from Pakistan. This place holds value for its Flag Ceremony at sunset where soldiers from both the side engage in display of martial activities of harmless variety.
