Sarnath Temple Tour
Situated on the banks of the famous Ganges River, Varanasi is a holy city, and a place considered the spiritual nerve-center of north India. It’s among the oldest existing and holiest cities in the world with a shade of religious ethos and some history thrown to it. Considered scared to Hindus with mentions in millennial old books, it’s where people come from all parts of the world to celebrate two of the most important events in life – birth and death.
The mention of Varanasi without temples is like detailing a desert without the sands. The landscape of the city is dotted with popular and ancient temples dedicated to different gods and goddess. Two of the most important temples in Varanasi are, Kashi Vishanath Lord Shiva Temple and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple. Temples are present at virtually every nook and corner of the city with some other popular ones including Bharat Mata Mandir, Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple and New Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
Most of these temples in Varanasi are centuries old and they attract devotees from all parts of the world. During festival times and in pious month, these festivals buzz with sea of people partaking in religious ceremonies and prayers. Apart from the scared temples, you must also visit the ghats on the ban of the Ganges, particularly the Dasaswamedh Ghat which is located close to Vishwanath Temple. Sightseeing Program
The standard time to start the tour is 09:00 AM. However, you can select your own time. Vehicle is for 04 Hours fair user policy and the suggested tour itinerary includes under mention places: 1. Dhamek Stupa Dhamek Stupa Sarnath lies at Sarnath in Uttar-Pradesh in India, one of the most well-known and venerated Buddhist structures in the world. One of the most sacred locations in India for Buddhist pilgrimages, Sarnath is known for being the place where Lord Buddha made his first sermon after the illumination on Bodhgaya. The spot of the Buddha preaching his first message is Dhamek Stupa Sarnath. Built in 249 B.C.E. by the great Mauryan King Ashoka, Dhamek Stupa is located in Sarnath's Deer Park. 2. Chaukhandi Stupa Chaukhandi Stupa is the first monument to be seen while entering Sarnath. Chaukhandi Stupa has a significant history as an important Buddhist stupa in Sarnath. Chaukhandi Stupa Sarnath is widely thought to have originally been built in the Gupta period from the 4th to the 6th centuries as a temple with terraces. Govardhan later – The son of a local king, by building an octagonal Mughal tour around the square building of the stupa, modified stupa to its current shape. The tower was built to commemorate Humayun's visit - the mighty Mughal ruler. 3. Archeological Museum, Sarnath The Sarnath Archeological Museum is a museum worth visiting while visiting Uttar Pradesh, India's oldest archeology museum. The museum exhibits some of Buddhist art's finest incarnations. 4. Mulagandha Kuti Vihara Situated in the midst of brick ruins of ancient Sarnath, the Mulagandha Kuti Vihara Sarnath is known for the wonderful walls and frescoes. This is a relatively new Buddhist temple that therefore contrasts markedly with Sarnath Ruins; this temple is also distinguished by its distinct architecture which is not near to the Buddhist style. In Uttar Pradesh the Mulagandha Kuti Vihara Sarnath is especially renowned for its frescoes and murals. 5. Deer Park or Isipatana Located about 10 km from the famous Hindu pilgrimage center of Varnasi, Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh is one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage destinations in India. Sarnath is home to some of the largest remains of the sacred Buddha sites where Lord Buddha gave the first sermon after his enlightenment. Various stupas, old monasteries, temples, museums, gardens and many other attractions are prominent attractions for the tourists in Sarnath. The Sarnath Deer Park or Isipatana is the biggest of the Sarnath Gardens. Note: This is a suggested itinerary and we can customize it according to your preference. |
