Since then, Srinagar has remained well linked by road to the rest of the country except for the irregular stoppage caused by a landslide or snowstorm. The road distance to Jammu is 293 kilometers and to Delhi is 876 kilometers; at both places, standard, deluxe and Volvo buses are accessible for the trip as are taxis.

Srinagar is only linked to Baramulla by train on the Quazigund Baramulla line. Jammu (Tawi) is the mainly useful railhead for Srinagar and this is linked to most main cities in north India by rail. From Jammu (Tawi), taxis and buses are accessible for Srinagar. The distance is 295 kilometers and the drive takes seven to eight hours.
By Air
Some domestic airlines operate normal flights to Srinagar from Jammu, Delhi and further places; these comprise - Kingfisher, GoAir, Spicejet, Jet Airways, Jet Lite, Indian Airlines. Flights to Jeddah are offered for Haj only.
