History

Sankat Mochan Temple has a long history dating back to the time of Goswami Tulsidas, a Hindu Vaishnava saint and poet. The temple of Sankat Mochan is claimed to be erected on the same site where Tulsidas met Lord Hanuman. As a result, he decided to construct a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, which he dubbed 'Sankat Mochan'.
