Kanha National Park is a national park and tiger reserve in Mandla District of central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Located on an altitude of 600-900 m (above sea level) with a total area stretching to 1,945 sq kms, the park attracts wildlife enthusiast for its variety of flora and fauna, involving tigers, leopards, bears etc. Set up in 1955 and elevated to tiger reserve in 1974, the park is known to save many endangered wildlife species, that were once on the verge of extinction.
Tourist attractions at Kanha National Park are undoubtedly its rich and rare collections of flora, fauna and avifauna. This park is only among rare few in India where wildlife enthusiasts can trail a wild tiger in its natural habitat. Sambars, Gaurs, blackbuck, chital, bison, black deer, sloth bear, hyena, jungle cat, python, leopard etc are some other attractions here.
