Nainital, Uttarakhand's precious possession perched on top of the Kumaon hills is a quintessential hilltop hamlet which has everything it takes to satisfy the ardent traveller.
Nainital, one of the most picturesque hill stations in India, is situated at 1,938 meters high and 280 kilometers from Delhi, in the altitude Shivalik Hills in Uttarakhand. Renowned for its splendid views of the Greater Himalayas and its various prominent educational establishments, the city was totally ruined in the 1880 landslip, which stretches across the pear-shaped 3-kilometer pool. Later revived by the gods' wish, Nainital went on to become North India's most popular getaway spot.
Nainital has a fascinatingly fabulous look and feel, to put it mild. The famous Naini Lake, a shimmering body of water enveloped on three sides by green hills, gives it an alpine feel, with the famous Mall curving around its banks. Nainital is abstractly separated into two parts, with Tallital on the south side of the bay, Mallital on the northern upper reaches, and anywhere in between scenic spots. It is an excellent weekend getaway during the year and also a fantastic base from which to discover the many gorgeous villages and scenic spots in the Kumaon area. Nainital is a serene hill station filled with many attractions, from boating to feeding animals at the zoo; from picnicking on the hills to exploring Jim Corbett 's house.
By Road
Guests commuting to Nainital via road can catch the National Highway 87. If driving from Delhi, take the Noida road, go on to Muradabad with thereon to Haldwani. As of Haldwani, take the road to Kathgodam furthermore carry on to Nainital.
Normal state-run bus services are also accessible as of Delhi, Agra, Dehradun, Haridwar, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Kathgodam and Haldwani. One more option is to take the luxurious coaches run through tour-operators from Delhi.
By Rail
The adjoining railway station is at Kathgodam that has a normal train service as of Delhi, Ramnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mathura, Dehradun and Jammu Tawi.
